How Revco Increased Search Conversion by 11% with Marqo
Company Overview
Revco is one of Canada's leading online retailers for powersports gear, parts, and accessories, serving ATV, UTV, snowmobile, dirt bike, and motorcycle riders nationwide. Built by riders and serving the Canadian market since 2008, Revco combines deep category expertise with an extensive ecommerce catalog spanning technical parts, tires, protective gear, apparel, and vehicle specific accessories across a bilingual English and French storefront. Shoppers often need to navigate precise combinations of vehicle type, model, product specifications, brand, and intended use to find the right product. For Revco, accurate ecommerce search and product discovery are critical to turning complex rider intent into confident purchases and long term customer loyalty.
Why Revco Evaluated Marqo
As Revco's ecommerce catalog expanded, traditional product discovery struggled with the precision powersports requires. Riders search using combinations of make, model, year, displacement, part number, and riding discipline that mix manufacturer terminology with the language riders actually use.
Revco needed product discovery that could interpret both technical specifications and natural rider language, respect compatibility across a deep vehicle-specific catalog, and convert high-intent traffic that arrives already knowing what machine it is shopping for.
Challenges
Powersports and parts retailers face a discovery problem that apparel retailers do not, because relevance is binary: a part either fits the customer's machine or it does not. As Revco's catalog grew across vehicle types and model years, searches combining a vehicle specification with a product category did not consistently surface compatible results, and riders using colloquial terminology rather than manufacturer nomenclature hit gaps between how they described a machine and how the catalog named it. Sustaining accuracy required continuous manual maintenance as new model years arrived, creating overhead that scaled with the catalog rather than with the business, and putting friction into the highest-intent moment in powersports retail.
Solution
Marqo's pixel was installed to capture shopper interaction signals, including search queries, clicks, add-to-cart events, purchases, and broader browsing behavior. This data enabled Marqo to understand how riders searched for and evaluated parts across Revco's catalog, including the relationship between vehicle specifications and the products that fit them.
Marqo ingested these signals alongside Revco's catalog data to train a model tailored to Revco's product taxonomy and the language riders use. As new model years arrived and inventory expanded, Marqo continuously updated rankings based on real onsite engagement, reducing the need for ongoing manual rule tuning and compatibility maintenance.
Revco deployed Marqo through a controlled production A/B test across its Canadian storefront and reported improved performance across fitment-driven discovery journeys.
Fitment-aware relevance: Revco reported stronger alignment between vehicle-specific queries and compatible products, reducing results that did not fit the machine being shopped for.
Enhanced semantic intent understanding: Improved interpretation of queries mixing manufacturer terminology with the language riders use, reducing inconsistent results and null queries.
Adaptive ranking: Product rankings continuously adjusted using real-time behavioral signals, while preserving merchandising control and transparency.
Reduced operational overhead: Reduced reliance on manual tagging and rule tuning as new model years and inventory entered the catalog.
Results
Revco evaluated Marqo through a controlled production A/B test across its Canadian storefront over a three-week period, measured at the user level across search and discovery. Conversion, add-to-cart, and click-through all improved.
